What is a Metaphor?
A Metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
Examples of Metaphors:
He drowned in a sea of grief.
She is fishing in troubled waters.
The snow is a white blanket.
Life is a rollercoaster.
His words were cotton candy.
The snow is a white blanket.
America is a melting pot.
Her voice was music to his ears.

A Simile is a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more emphatic or vivid.
5 Examples of Similes:
As brave as a lion.
As big as an elephant.
As blind as a bat.
As cheap as dirt.
As flat as a pancake.
What genre of writing would you see a Simile?
You would see a simile in a poem,

ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed reading this blog post because I can tell that you have put a lot of effort into this post. I did notice that you had a lot of metaphors and not many similes, so maybe you could put some more similes on. Keep up the great work.
